Yes! God cares.

“You must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”—Genesis 2:17.

God came looking for Adam and Eve. Their disobedience had changed things, and they were hiding. A loving trusting relationship was broken, and they saw God in a new way.

What happened? Did God change? No! He is the same yesterday and today and forever. Then what happened that day? Adam and Eve changed with the introduction of death: “You must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

What did death look like on that day? Adam and Eve became anxious for the first time and hid from God. They became consumed by shame and the feeling of insecurity. Adam said, “I was afraid because I was naked; so, I hid.” Their loving fellowship with God and each other was replaced with fear, isolation, and loneliness. And finally, they were no longer experiencing life abundantly as God has designed for them. What a pity! 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Even in such a discouraging moment God, in His lovingkindness, was willing to enter into their darkest moment to bring restoration. Yes! They suffered the consequences of their sin, but they also received God’s promise of deliverance Gen 3:15, and help by making clothes for them Gen 3:21.

We can count on God; He cares and wants the best for us..

PRAYER

Lord, help me to always heed to your counsel as revealed in the scripture and never doubt. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
