CASNFCI SCRIPTURE & PRAYER FOR THE DAY

The Shepherd’s Heart
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Are you too busy? It is hard to imagine many people answering "no" to this question today. Our lives are filled with things to do, places to go, people to meet. Yes! Life comes at us quickly, and we often respond by just trying to keep up. Whether it's the work, extracurricular activities with our kids, or other commitments, there are always more distractions and demands on our time. Our commitment to all these things can overwhelm us. The harassment of all this is not new to our generation, though. Jesus walked among people who were overburdened with the stresses of life; they needed comfort, help, and rest. And "he had compassion on them because they were . . . like sheep without a shepherd."
Jesus pays attention to people's needs. And as a good shepherd, he tends, guides, provides, heals, and shares his love with all. He also points his followers to God's work in restoring purpose to tired lives. He urges us to pray for all whom God wants to raise as workers to share his good news of salvation and new life Matthew 9:38 “Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
It is true that sin came and distorted our sense of purpose, but praise be to God our call and new creation in Christ has restored us to the path of God’s purpose; to live for God’s glory and share the Goodnews to a lost world. Like Jesus Our Lord, the Good Shepherd let’s be compassionate and attend to the needs of others and reach out to them with the Goodnews.

PRAYER
Lord, we are often worn and weary. Revive and empower us by your Spirit to live and share the Goodnews. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thank You.
Amen, it's a wake up call for us all to share the gospel wherever we are. Thank you Reverend for reminding us of the purpose why we are here on earth.
