The Report D05022022

RENEW REFRESH REFOCUS

CASNFCI SCRIPTURE & PRAYER FOR THE DAY

The Report

Caleb … said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, …” But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack …; they are stronger than we are.”—Numbers 13:30-31.

In the English language the word ‘but’ often nullifies whatever preceded it. So, in our verse today the spies were saying “Everything God told you about that land was true. But he lied when he said it will be ours because there’s no way we can conquer it”. How could the people not trust the Lord Almighty as they stood at the door to the promised land after witnessing the great works of the Lord in their deliverance in Egypt with the ten plagues, the walk through the Red Sea on dry land, and the destruction of Pharaoh’s army? (Exodus 7-15) Rather than having confidence that the Lord would again do as he had promised, they rejected the advice and report of Caleb and Joshua, who trusted the Lord. So, the people paid a heavy price. Their desert wanderings for the next forty years were a testimony to their lack of faith in God.

God often provides abundantly for us also and yet, when we’re faced with challenges, we fail to trust that he will bring us through. Our journey of faith is full of promises from God, yet, it also means facing "giant" problems in the process. If we act in faith those giant situations will fall before God, but if we become fearful and turn away, we will lose out on many of God's best promises. How we deal with our "giant" problems will determine the outcome of so many of God's promises to us. Yes! God wants to prosper us, but sometimes we’re going to have to go through something necessary to become what God has ordained us to be. Therefore, let your report count, even when you are the only one testifying on the truth. Keep trusting God; He is Faithful to perfect his word.

PRAYER

Lord, help me to overcome my fears and to keep trusting in you no matter what happens. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
