CASNFCI SCRIPTURE & PRAYER FOR THE DAY

The Promise:

“Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Let’s picture what happened on that faithful day: A convicted felon, admitting that he is being justly punished, asking in his dying moments to be remembered by God’s Son. A violent robber, nailed to a cross, gasping for air, asking to be shown kindness. This man saw Jesus bleeding and naked and yet he believed that he would someday come into his kingdom. He saw Jesus at his weakest moment, and still, he believed in him. He is a crucified sinner trusting in a crucified Savior. No man ever looked less like a king than Jesus did that day, yet this man saw him as he was. He saw Jesus at his weakest moment. This is made more amazing when you consider that this man had none of the advantages the disciples had. Yet there on the cross, he came to understand the heart of the gospel. In the crucified Jesus, beaten, mocked, forsaken, this man saw a king and another crown than the crown of thorns. One crucified man saw another crucified man and believed in him. That made the difference between heaven and hell. What boldness!

He pleaded: “Remember me.” And Jesus gave him not only a listening ear but also a response with an overwhelming promise: “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” All that God wants from us and all that he will accept is simple faith in his Son, Jesus Christ. When we place our faith in the Lord Jesus, in that very moment we are saved.

The question here is; When you look and think about Jesus who do you see? We have nothing to fear if we know Jesus as Lord. We are not ready to die if we don’t.

PRAYER

Lord, thank you for opening my eyes of understanding to see Jesus as you intend. Help me live for this truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
