The jealous Heart
“A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones”— Proverbs 14:30
Note the word “healthy.” If you want to be mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically healthy, don’t give place to jealousy or it will consume you. The most miserable people in life are filled with jealousy. It eats away at them and steals their joy. They think of little else but the things somebody else has that they want, which in turn leads to resentment and strife. Cain envied God’s approval of his younger brother Abel for his worship, so he killed him. Joseph’s brothers envied him for their father’s love of him and his virtuous life, so they sold him into slavery (Acts 7:9). The Jews envied Jesus Christ’s success with the people, so they killed Him (Matt 27:18). The Jews envied Paul’s success with the Gentiles, so they blasphemed the gospel and tried to kill him (Acts 13:45; 17:5). How do you conquer jealousy? Firstly; Acknowledge you have a problem. Secondly; Repent and ask for God’s help. Thirdly; Pray in love for the person who is the target of your jealousy. At first, it will feel awkward, but as you keep doing it, God will change your heart and replace jealousy with love. Start celebrating other people’s successes with them and make a point of complimenting them with a sincere heart.

PRAYER
Lord, help me not to give in to Jealousy. Cultivate in me a peaceful heart that I may enjoy fellowship with others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
