CASNFCI SCRIPTURE & PRAYER FOR THE DAY

My allegiance is to God
Dear friends, do not believe every spirit but test the spirits
I believe is good to always have a personal assessment every year. Among the questions we should ask as we do this is: “What core values do we hold so tightly that we would never let them go, regardless of the cost? Or, to put it another way, “What do you believe?” Some people today think the idea of “faith” or “belief” is out of date. But all of us believe something and place our trust in someone or something. The question here is: Where does our ultimate allegiance lay?
Psalm 146:3 “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help”, Jeremiah 17:5-9 “Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, …. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord ….” We need to realize that all who “believe in themselves” or put their confidence on the latest ideas or movements around us and in human social and political power will be disappointed. John reminds us that the content of our faith is as important as the act of believing. He calls us to “test the spirits” to determine whether our beliefs come from God and are directed toward God.
Beloved, our focus is on God, who has reached into a fallen world and speaks with a voice of love and authority. Therefore, our allegiance is to God.

PRAYER
Lord, keep us from placing our trust in anything but you. Give us a discerning heart to always uphold the Truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
