Listen to be Encourage
If you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah and listen to what they are saying. Afterward, you will be encouraged to attack the camp.” ... — Judges 7:10-11
Are you being criticized? Has it shaken your confidence? God told Gideon, “If you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp…and listen to what they are saying. Afterward, you will be encouraged”. Why did God send Gideon and his servant into the enemy camp? To hear what they were saying, and to encourage him. When they arrived, a soldier was telling a friend about his dream: “‘A round loaf of barley bread came tumbling into the Midianite camp. It struck the tent with such force that the tent…collapsed.’ His friend responded, ‘This can be nothing other than the sword of Gideon…God has given…the whole camp into his hands.’ When Gideon heard the dream and its interpretation, he…worshiped” v13-15.
Sometimes when we need encouragement, all that God wants us to do is to be good listeners of what is been said to us by others because of our faith in Him. It is said, “Nobody kicks a dead dog!” We’re making a difference otherwise; they wouldn’t even notice us nor even talk about us. Yes! We’re making a difference.
For every life’s battle and challenge, God has a strategy. Let’s always ask Him to show us the winning strategy. The Bible says, “Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it” Ps 127:1. God knows the weight load we can handle, the materials we need, and how it will all fit together in our life. So, like Gideon, let’s first listen to what God has to say when we’re confronted by fear. ..
PRAYER
Lord, speak to me and strengthen my faith so that I will not yield to fear and words that are meant to hurt me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
