Let’s work together
For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building — 1 Corinthians 3:9
My wife and I love to garden. we plow, plant seeds and seedlings, cultivate and pick the produce. We also uproot plants as they die off; and many more. As you can see, our garden is more than just about one person. We are coworkers in the garden; complementing each other to function well, and enjoying the fruitful harvest all through the year together.
God’s garden is as big as this world. Comparing and competitive Christians in the Church at Corinth needed to be reminded that God never planned for us to tend his garden alone. Nor was one tribe more important than another. So sad, today's Church needs to be reminded of this truth.
We are all privileged to be coworkers with God and each other in our Lord’s mission to rescue and restore men and women; we are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us … 2 Corinthians 5:20. And each person is important.
Working together is essential in the field we call the church. Our gifts by the Holy spirit and efforts are encouraged and coordinated to build up the body of Christ as God’s agents of transformation in the world.
Therefore, the need to reset our minds as individuals and as a church in working together in God’s Garden must not be taken lightly but with uttermost concern so that we can get it right.
PRAYER
Lord, only you can make your church grow in line with your purposes. Help me to work well with you and others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
