Let’s think Godly
… whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think about such things. - Philippians 4:8.
What do we like talking about more, the good or bad? How much of our conversation includes good or bad things going on in the church?
If we are honest, we might have to admit that bad news not only travels fast but can also dominate our conversations. Bad news and conflict sell more news, the experts say.
Paul points out to the Believers to concentrate and channel their energy and time on what is pure, right, noble, admirable, lovely, excellent, and praiseworthy. Yes, many bad things can influence our judgment and life. But as son and daughter of God through faith in Christ, we are expected to make it a duty, to focus on what is pure, right, noble, admirable, lovely, excellent, and praiseworthy as designed by God rather than be overwhelmed with the bad.
What’s the point of this? V9c says: “And the God of peace will be with you”.
When we fill our minds with all that is pure, right, noble, admirable, lovely, excellent, and praiseworthy as designed by God we become more attractive to God and ready for fellowship with Him.
The Psalms says that such a person is “like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper” Psalm 1:1-6.

PRAYER
Lord, help us not to be ignorant of that which is pure, right, noble, admirable, lovely, excellent, and praiseworthy. In Jesus’ name Amen.
