CASNFCI SCRIPTURE & PRAYER FOR THE DAY

Joy of the Harvest

The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. — 2 Timothy 2:6

A pleasant joy comes with eating from the fruits or crops you have grown in your farm or garden. People who grew up on farms or with gardens know about this joy intimately. And it is intensified when you have been involved in the beautiful and strenuous process of helping plants grow.

In our verse for today, the farmer is rightly described as “hardworking.” As much as my wife and l enjoy gardening, we know it is hard work. we’ve learned that without a constant focus on planting and protecting the garden and doing the weeding and watering alongside, there will be a limited harvest. Joy comes from being intimately involved from start to finish, seeing the growth and being the “first to receive” and enjoy the abundance that comes from this hard work.

Paul, offers this comparison to Timothy to help us have good understanding of our lives and service in the vineyard of the Lord that calls for hard work like farming and gardening. Ephesians 5:16 also tells us to make the most of every opportunity. This literally means. We are all given an equal amount of time each day. How we use it determines its value. When we redeem the time for Christ, we place the utmost value upon it working hard to fulfil divine purpose. This will in turn surely reap a harvest of Joy for us. God wants us to partake in the joy of the harvest. .

PRAYER

Lord, thank you for the privilege of serving. Refresh me with the joy of sharing in the harvest of transformed lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
