Do not lie D21052021

RENEW REFRESH REFOCUS

CASNFCI SCRIPTURE & PRAYER FOR THE DAY

Do not lie

Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land?”

Acts 5:3.

The pain of failing to answer an exam question correctly is devastating. In today’s passage, the question asked was a question that only Ananias and his wife can answer correctly for they are in full knowledge of what the answer is. But they deliberately refuse to give the right answer. What a pity!

Why would they make up such a lie? Did greed convince them that they should keep some of the money for themselves?

At the end of this story, there are two dead bodies and a fearful church v10-11. Though everything seemed to be going well, the church includes people who still struggle with sins, such as jealousy and greed and so much more. What we all need is our hearts open to grace from God so that we can live with the right testimony before all men who will see the light, and glorify God Matthew 5:16.

As Peter confronted the couple, I am sure he did it with great sadness. He knew what it was like to let God down and to disappoint Jesus (Luke 22:54-62).

“Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks,” Luke 6:45. Say the Truth.

PRAYER

Lord, help us to open our hearts to you in confession so that we may live fully by your Spirit. In Jesus’ name Amen.
