CASNFCI SCRIPTURE & PRAYER FOR THE DAY

Discerning Heart

This is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best. . . — Philippians 1:9-10.

How does it feel to be awarded and tagged as the best in your line of duty?

As Christians, it is primary for us to know that the kind of love we are to share is not just casual. It involves depth of insight, discernment, and the ability to figure out what is best in a given situation. The thought of this should prompt us to ask, “What will help me be the most transparent to Jesus when I encounter this or that situation?”

Is all about developing the kind of thought that is Christlike. The goal is to produce the Spirit fruit that reflects Jesus and also points others in his direction.

When we read in John 3:16 that God “so loved the world,” it affirms to us that God’s plan of salvation was centered on the love that can only be found in Jesus. Yes! God’s working out of our salvation required discernment of the best person for the work.

As we are called to love, we are also called to the God-like activity of discernment, so that in all things we will bring glory to God in Christ.

PRAYER

Lord, give us discerning hearts, so that we may better understand your will and how to share your love. In Jesus’ name Amen.
