RENEW REFRESH REFOCUS

CASNFCI SCRIPTURE & PRAYER FOR THE DAY

Let your Prayer count

Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? — Luke 18:6-7

I recently stumble on the following about Ted Turner, a cable television millionaire. “Turner, at the American Humanist Association banquet, where he received an award … openly criticized fundamental Christianity. He said, "Jesus would be sick at his stomach over the way his ideas have been twisted." He went on to say, "I’ve been saved seven or eight times. But, I gave up on it, when, despite my prayers, my sister died. The more I strayed from my faith, the better I felt!"

Ted Turner is wrong, but he is perfectly reflecting the attitude many hold concerning God and the matter of prayer. Many people will pray about something for a while and when the answer doesn’t come when they think it should, they just throw up their hands in defeat and say, “What’s the use?” or “it is not God’s will”. I’m sure many of us have felt that way at times. You pray for healing, but the person you love is taken from you. You ask for a job, and nothing happens. You ask the Lord to heal a broken relationship, and still, your marriage ends in bitterness. You plead with the Lord to bring back Leah Shariub and many who have been kidnaped, but it doesn’t happen. The herdsmen and Boko-haram challenges, Etc. You began to wonder if praying was a waste of time. In the parable of the persistent widow, Jesus tells his disciples and us to “always pray and not give up.” If even an unjust judge finally listens, how much more will our Father in heaven hear us. God always listens and cares for our prayers, He just doesn’t always give us the answer we are looking for or in the time we would like, but He does answer our prayers. Therefore, don’t give up. Keep praying.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, is an honor to speak to you. Thank you for all answers to every prayer thus far. In Jesus’ name Amen.
