A call for Help D15022022

RENEW REFRESH REFOCUS

CASNFCI SCRIPTURE & PRAYER FOR THE DAY

A call for Help

I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me.

Psalm 77:1.

The phone call. The knock on the door. The doctor’s words. The death pronouncement. Many of us can remember times in our lives when we received news that we immediately knew would change the course of our lives and the future. Waves of fear ran through our bodies, and we could barely stand. Calling out to our God, the source of our life and strength and hope is a natural response to shock, fear, disbelief, and grief for us as Christians. It’s our 112 or 767 (emergency numbers in Nigeria) call to the God of the universe. Remember Peter’s experience in Matthew 14:30 “But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” “

One of the wonderful things about the Psalms is that, by example, we are granted permission to cry out to God in desperation. It’s human to fear death when we’re diagnosed with a killer disease. It's human to want to die when we lose a precious child or spouse or when we go through hard times. God’s people are not to give up in difficult times. Instead, we are encouraged to call for HELP. Yes! to the one who can hear us and wipe our tears, and carry us through whatever we are going through or that lies ahead. God, Our Father wants to help us. Therefore, let’s not hesitate to call Him as His sons and daughters through faith in Christ. Hebrews 13:6, “So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. … “, Psalm 121:1-2, “I lift my eyes to the mountains where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, ..., Romans 10:13 For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

PRAYER

Lord, thank you for when we feel overwhelmed with fear, you hear our cries and come to help us. keep us strong. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
